Impressive results from Mark Information

Once again, Mark Information – one of Europe’s leading suppliers of systems for data collection, job and roster planning, project registration, time & attendance and access control – has announced impressive financial results for 2005, with equity capital yielding nearly 22% interest. These excellent figures pave the way for the company to take on additional staff and put an ambitious development project in place.

In 2005, Mark Information focussed specifically on helping SAP and other ERP customers get even more profit out of their installations. The strategy clearly paid off. The annual accounts covering the parent company and its four sales units in the UK, Denmark, Norway, and Sweden, reflect a sound business.

The rate of return is 19.1% (15.8% in 2004), the rate of return on the equity capital is almost double at 21.6% (13.3%), and the solvency has increased to 47.5% (34.2%). In 2005, gross profit was DKK42.7m (DKK41.1m in 2004), and there was even progress on earnings, with net profit after tax of DKK2.7m compared to DK1.4m in 2004. Says Carlos M Christensen, Group CEO of Mark Information: “For us, global competition is not a threat, but rather a fantastic opportunity. Globalisation puts concepts such as lean and process optimisation on top of companies’ agendas and opens doors for our solutions locally and, increasingly, internationally too. We see that our solutions are implemented more and more often alongside global ERP roll-outs."

He adds: “We have created efficiency gains in several ERP environments in 2005, and have been particularly successful in gaining a foothold with SAP customers. SAP is extremely good at making work processes in the overall production planning more efficient, whereas we focus on optimising the production floor. In short, we extend a SAP solution the last few metres out on to the shopfloor to each individual machine and employee.” Among the new customers Mark Information gained in 2005 are Carlsberg, Danish Defence (The DeMars project), Meneta and Aker Kverner, who all have large SAP installations, as well as TNT, Bestseller, Bonaparte and more. Focus on development and hiring new staff The encouraging annual results mean that Mark Information can now concentrate its resources on a development project to migrate the core product ProMark from a client-server architecture to Service Oriented Architecture (SOA). In 2005, Mark Information had a new research and development organisation and a new Vice President of R&D, who is heading the SOA project.

The company is now hiring 11 new employees, a third of which are software developers. Significant improvement in Denmark The biggest improvement has taken place on the Danish home market where the sales unit Mark Information Denmark, headed by Country Manager Steffen Meyer, has almost doubled its figures compared to 2004. Last year’s turnover was DKK6m compared to DKK3.6m the previous year and gross profit was DKK16.4m DKK (compared to DKK11.7m.
